Stupid Human Trick
I can cross my eyes and then make one of them roll around and around (either eye, in either direction) while keeping the other one firmly pointed at the tip of my nose. I've scared at least one doctor this way.
Relationship Status
I'm happily married to Julian (and have been since August 11, 2002). Just in case you're matching that up to my educational data, I will confirm that we lived in separate cities for the first ten months or so of our marriage. Not recommended.
Religious Leanings
Jewish. Shomeret Mitzvot (observant). When possible, I prefer not to identify with a particular denomination. We belong to a Modern orthodox shul. It's not my ideal place (I was happier in NY at Ramath Orah and Kehilat Orach Eliezer), but I think it's the best of the bunch up here, and it's very close by. Since it seems to me (and apparently other members of the community) that our shul is stuck somewhere in the mid-1980s when it comes to women's issues, I have been trying, in my own needling, persistent, and cloyingly sweet way, to effect some change. I've had a few successes so far, and no major setbacks, so we'll say it's working.
